Qld Red Angus Sale: Power of Red II

GK Livestock are once again proud to be supporting the second Annual Power of Red Sale to be held on Saturday the 17^th of September at the Headingly Sales Complex, commencing at 11am.

GK will be offering five quality bulls ranging from yearling age to two years old. Included in this draft of bulls will be the Grand Champion Bull from the Brisbane Royal Show, GK Red Kulcha Shoc K23 who will be a feature of the sale selling as Lot 6.

We are also proud to be offering four lovely breed-leading females along with one embryo and two semen lots.

All of our live lots have been vaccinated with 3 germ Tickfever blood, 7 in 1, Pestiguard, 3 day sickness vaccine and have been tested as non PI carriers for Pestivirus.

Lot 6: GK Red Kulcha Shoc K23

(GK K23)

Stud sire prospect. Senior and Grand Champion Red Angus Bull 2016 Brisbane Royal Show. Here’s a bull with perfect feet that was very moderate born and displays a massive amount of growth for age combined with style and athleticism.

Stats at Brisbane at 23 months, 1104kg with an EMA of 134 cm2. K23 is sired by our successful Canadian sire Trooper and his dam Bella B30 (see photo on Female page) is a 10-year-old picture perfect, big power cow. She is a maternal sister to triple trait leader GK 26 Federer F23.

Lot 28: GWP Larry L09

Larry is a deep ribbed, thick topped , super stout son of our Canadian sire, Trooper and out of a very feminine first calving, heavy milking daughter of GK Red Attention Seca A25, who we purchased out of the first Power of Red Sale.

Larry is an easy doing bull of moderate maturity pattern was born unassisted, away on agistment. He comes with a pedigree packed with leading GK genetics and sells with the full GK Livestock guarantee of quality.

Lot 29: GK Red Limelight L14

(GK L14)

Limelight L14 is the first of Wollumbi Hi-Star’s progeny to be offered by GK and due to the untimely death of the 2014 Brisbane and Sydney Interbreed Champion caused by snake bite, this is likely to be Hi Star’s only drop of calves offered by us.

L14 is a long bodied, high growth, good natured calf out of one of the nicest and most functional two-year-old cows you would ever set eyes on in Tinsel J18 (see photo of Tinsel on Female page).

L14 is in the top 10% of the Breed for 200 day weight on Group Breedplan.

Lot 30: GK Red Lonestar L11

(GK L11)

Here’s another powerful, soft made, high performance Hi-Star yearling.

L11 is out of a beautiful young Mulberry first calver, who goes back the magnificent old Canadian Dividend 815J donor cow.

Lot 31: GK Red Hi Star L13

(GK L13)

L13 is a September yearling by Hi-Star. He is a young bull with a stack of length and natural muscle shape to him. He stands on a very good set of feet and legs and is out of a high capacity outcross two-year-old first calver sired by the powerhouse SSS Arson bull and is from the Brylor Lassie cow family.

L13 is in the top 10% of the breed for 200 and 400 day weight, and the top 15% for 600 day weight on Red Angus Group Breedplan.

Lot 34: GK Red Dina 26 J19

(GK J19 and GK L27)

Dina J19 is a lovely, feminine, perfect uddered daughter of Triple Trait leader Mulberry 26P and is out of Red SSS Dina 715X a beautiful milking daughter of the $75,000 (CAD) Red Cockburn Ribeye. We purchased 715X as a feature bred heifer out of Canada’s Cowgirl’s Sale several years back. Dina J19 is in the top 10% of the breed for 200 and 400 day weight and top 15% for 600 day weight and milk on Group Breedplan.

J19 sells with a big topped, very stout, low birth weight bull calf at side (GK Red 240 Lincoln L27, born 02.12.15) sired by the new outcross U.S sire Andras New Direction R240. This bull calf is in the top 10% of the breed for 200 day weight and top 15% for 400 & 600 day weight on Group Breedplan, and would make a very suitable young bull to use on maiden heifers.

Dina J19 is bred back to Red Lazy MC Trooper 21Y whose semen is now off the open market due to extremely limited supply.

Lot 40: GK Red ACM Red Lassie 23 L8

Lassie L8 is a magnificent, big, long, feminine and growthy daughter of triple trait leader and Interbreed Royal Show Champion GK 26 Federer F23. Her dam G39 is from the popular and proven Lassie cow family, and was top priced unjoined heifer in the Pride & Passion II Sale, selling half share to ACM (Anthony Mountney) for $7000.

A maternal brother to L8 was amongst a shipment of Red Angus bulls exported by GK to Vietnam last year.

Lassie L8 sells unjoined and sits in the top 20% of the breed for 200 & 400 day weight in Red Angus Group Breedplan.

Lot 41: GK Red Maple 53 L10

(GK L10)

This will be the first and only heifer to be offered by GK sired by 2014 Sydney and Brisbane Interbreed Champion Wollumbi Hi Star H53.

L10’s dam Maple J9 is a perfect uddered, first calf heifer by our Western Australian sire Dragonfly D94 and is from the famed Maple family being a maternal sister to Maple D11: Sydney Grand Champion Female 2011 and Maple K19: Junior Champion Heifer Brisbane 2015.

Maple L10 is a beautiful natured heifer and she would make a great foundation breeder or would suit a junior member looking for a show prospect. Sells unjoined.

Lot 42: GK Red Bella 49 L32

Here is a beautiful baby heifer and the first to be offered by our outcross walking sire GK Red 23U Hot Spin. Hot Spin is the result of an imported embryo and is the only son of the American outcross bull Badlands Networth 23U registered in Australia. The combination of H49 with the G44 cow (who is a full sibling to GK Federer) makes this little lady’s pedigree pretty unique.

Add to this the fact that Bella L32 has a magnificent phenotype to go with it and you could have yourself a lovely foundation female or show heifer to add to your program. Sells unjoined.

Lot 50: 3 Embryos – Red Brylor Countess 211T x Beiber Makin’ Hay 9913

Embryos stored at Holbrook Breeders NSW. Imported embryo package out of a magnificent Mulberry daughter in Red Brylor Countess 211T. Countess sold as pick of the Brylor Mulberry daughters to a syndicate of international buyers in 2012, topping the cow division at the 40^th Anniversary Canadian Red Roundup Sale for $22,500 CAD.

211T is a maternal sister to the outstanding proven Canadian Sire Red Brylor Stallion 19J, being out of one of the most magnificent and powerful New Trend Daughters that I have ever seen, in PTTV Countess.

The sire of the embryos Bieber Makin’ Hay is a highly proven, breed leading, curve bender in the United States with over 550 progeny registered in over 150 herds. No other Red Angus sire offers a wider spread of EBVs from birth to yearling weight in the United States. Makin’ Hay is out of the Adelle 8958 cow, which Bieber Red Angus touts as their most valuable cow in the herd.

Lot 56: 6 Semen Straws – Red Lazy MC Trooper 21Y

Semen stored at Select Genetics. Trooper first hit the scene in Canada as top selling bull calf in the Lazy MC Sale for $20,000 CAD to Lakeview Ag in the U.S.A then then went on to win calf championships in both Canada and in Denver that Autumn. His show career culminated in being named U.S National Champion bull as a two year old in February 2014.

Trooper semen is now off the open market due to extremely limited supply, so this will most likely be the last chance to purchase Trooper semen in Australia. This bull has bred so well for us here at GK. He throws progeny with magnificent hoof and foot structure, is a renowned calving ease sire, who shortens gestation length and works equally well on both maiden heifers or bigger framed mature cows.

Trooper sired the Senior and Grand Champion Bull (Lot 6 in this sale) and both the Junior Champion Bull and Heifer at the recent 2016 Brisbane Royal Show. Included in his first crop of calves were both the top price Yearling Bull $8000 (GK Red Kody) and Top Priced Heifer $8000 (GK Kwitcherbitchin) that sold in the first Power of Red Sale in September 2015.

Lot 57: 6 Semen Straws – Red Fine Line Mulberry 26P

Selling six straws of semen in this breed legend. Semen is off the open market world-wide.

Mulberry is certainly in no need of an introduction. He speaks volumes for himself. He is a triple trait leader for 200, 400 & 600 day weight on Red Angus Group Breedplan in Australia. He is known around the world for his magnificent daughters, but can also throw an easy doing, well muscled son as well as any other sire in the breed.

Mulberry is the sire of the top priced bull in 2015 Power of Red I Sale, GK Red Jeopardy J51, who sold for $10,000 and the Australian Record Priced Female GK Red Maple H33, who set the record at the fst Power of Red Sale last year for $20,500. He was the sire of the Grand Champion Bull and the Junior Champion Heifer at this year’s Sydney Royal Red Angus Feature Show. He is also the sire of triple trait leader GK 26 Federer, and more Royal Show Interbreed Champions in Australia than any other Red Angus bull known.

But the best things about Mulberry is the fact that his progeny will hold condition in tough times up north here and finish solely on grass alone.
